Promised Land   (photo essay)

2011 - 2012

Promised Land is documentary photo essay about the people and places of the Marcellus region. Fracking has been prominent in the national eye in recent years. Opponents cry foul over the environmental repercussions of fracking and question the practices of the large oil and gas companies. However the employment provided by the increased energy production in the region has brought economic stimulation to people and communities which really needed it. This body of work takes no stance on the complex facets of the issue, it is about revealing the people and places which comprise this corner of the country. All photos were shot on medium format Kodak Portra 400 film

This body of work was acquired by the Smithsonian archives
